BSNL Prepares for 4G Service Rollout in Erode and Tirunelveli

Government-run telecommunication corporation, BSNL is on the brink of rolling out its 4G services in Erode’s commercial sector and the district of Tirunelveli, aiming to provide better network connectivity for its consumers. This upgrade process will encompass tower improvements and SIM card swaps.

As per TheHindu report, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is set to commence its 4G services in Erode business sector and Tirunelveli district in the near future. Customers intending to utilize the enhanced services are recommended to swap their current BSNL 2G/3G SIMs with 4G SIMs at specified customer care centers.

The same report cites S Krishna Kumar, BSNL’s Erode Business Area General Manager, who stated that the areas to be covered under this plan include the Erode revenue district, and Kangeyam and Dharapuram regions in the Tiruppur revenue district.

4G Enhancement in Erode Telecom District
The existing 324 towers in the Erode Telecom District will be modernized from 2G/3G to 4G to facilitate the transition to 4G, and supplementary towers will be positioned in areas with sparse coverage.

4G Enhancement in Tirunelveli
The official statement outlines that the existing 309 towers in the Tirunelveli Operational Area will be enhanced to 4G using the 10 MHz spectrum. Furthermore, Mobile service in the Tirunelveli area would be improved by BSNL’s planned deployment of 46 new 4G towers to the Tirunelveli Operational Area.

Smooth Transition to 5G Technology
Significantly, all these towers are anticipated to be upgraded further to 5G technology without necessitating any alterations to the tower hardware or SIM cards in the foreseeable future, as per the press statement. These towers will possess inherent 5G capabilities, enabling a hassle-free transition to 5G via software updates.

Guidelines for BSNL 4G SIM Card Upgrade
To take advantage of the high-speed 4G internet services, customers are advised to ensure that their mobile devices are equipped with 4G compatible SIM cards. Existing BSNL customers with 2G or 3G SIM cards can swap them for 4G SIM cards without any charges at any BSNL customer service center, franchisee outlet, or retail store.

Moreover, users of other service providers can switch to BSNL and benefit from their competitive pricing plans by porting into the BSNL network and obtaining a 4G SIM card.
