Starring Rosario Dawson as the eponymous saberist, the upcoming Star Wars Disney+ series Ahsoka follows the hunt for Grand Admiral Thrawn, who is plotting a violent campaign against the New Republic.
Ezra Bridger, the Jedi who disappeared with Thrawn at the end of Star Wars: Rebels, will also be on Ahsoka’s radar, and she will do what she can to bring him back to the Federation.
Several other characters from Rebels and beyond will help her accomplish this. She’ll have the assistance of Sabine Wren, Hera Syndulla, and Chopper, and we’ve already seen Zeb Orrelios, another member of the Ghost crew, in The Mandalorian. Here are the eight most likely Star Wars characters to make an appearance in the live-action adaptation of Ahsoka.
Which Star Wars characters might appear in Ahsoka?
Many Star Wars fans hold Captain Rex in high esteem. He was Ahsoka’s best friend and a major character in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Since he assisted the Ghost crew in freeing Lothal during Rebels, he could make a cameo appearance in the Ahsoka show to thwart Thrawn and locate Ezra.
Despite his premature aging, he fought the Empire at the Battle of Endor. A flashback to The Clone Wars could also feature the Captain.
Temuera Morrison, who played Jango Fett (the prototypical clone), is rumored to be cast in the role. However, at this time, these reports are only speculation.
After a brief appearance in Star Wars Episode II – Attack of the Clones, Barriss Offee was given a larger role in The Clone Wars as Luminara Unduli’s padawan. In the fifth season, Offee turned evil and framed Ahsoka for a bombing she had committed. This led to Offee’s arrest.
Dave Filoni has hinted that he has plans for her, but what those plans are remains a mystery. If she is the Inquisitor, it would explain her animosity toward Ahskoa and resolve a plot hole in the canon, so it’s possible.
The Eighth Brother is another possible identity for this Inquisitor. Initially introduced in Rebels, he attempts to escape with two other Inquisitors after killing Kanan, Maul, and Ezra.
The Inquisitor depicted in Ahsoka looks very close to what audiences could expect from a live-action interpretation of the Eighth Brother, so his miraculous survival wouldn’t be the first time a long fall failed to kill someone in Star Wars.
After Count Dooku killed his mother, Ahsoka’s potential love interest in The Clone Wars, Lux Bonteri, became a Separatist and tried to join the Mandalorian terrorist group Deathwatch.
Bonteri may make an appearance in a scene involving the New Republic, a major faction in Ahsoka, given that he eventually joined the Rebel Alliance and wanted to go into politics.
Alexsandr Kallus
Alexsandr Kallus is introduced in Rebels as a former Imperial ISB Agent who defected to the Rebel Alliance. He knows many of the Ghost crew, and they all have cameos in Ahsoka, so his appearance there wouldn’t be out of the ordinary.
Since viewers have already seen Zeb Orrelios in live-action, it is likely that Kallus will make an appearance as well. He and Zeb Orrelios made the trip to the new Lasat home during the episode’s epilogue.
Hondo Ohnaka
Hondo Ohnaka is a king of pirates who was first seen in The Clone Wars and later made multiple appearances in Rebels. He survives to appear in the sequels. His ties to the Ghost crew make an appearance in Ahsoka possible, though the show’s humor seems at odds with the mood it’s trying to establish.
It’s possible that Hondo Ohnaka won’t make an appearance, but it wouldn’t be shocking if this scoundrel made a brief appearance.
Admiral Ar’alani
Originally introduced in the Legends novel Outbound Flight, the Chiss Admiral Ar’alani later made appearances in both Thrawn book trilogies. Since the Chiss are indigenous to the Unknown Regions, where Thrawn and Ezra are currently trapped, she may cross paths with them. She pilots the heavy cruiser Steadfast.
In the trailer for Ahsoka, viewers might recognize Thrawn’s ship as Chiss, because it’s unlike any other ship they’ve seen before.
Eli Vanto
In the 2017 novel Thrawn, Eli Vanto is introduced as Thrawn’s Imperial liaison. It is assumed that the young Vanto is still with Admiral Ar’alani and the Chiss, with whom he joins at the end of the book.
Vanto could be played by Wes Chatham, who has been cast in an unspecified role as “Thrawn’s right-hand man,” a description that fits only Vanto.
