In order to meet rising demand for faster data speeds and more sophisticated services, Orange Spain is increasing the coverage of its 5G+ network across the country.
In February, Orange Spain made headlines by launching 5G SA (Standalone) technology commercially ahead of the Mobile World Congress. This made Orange Spain the first operator in the country and one of the first in Europe to do so. With the aim of linking 30 Spanish places by the end of the first half of 2023, Orange Spain has accelerated the rollout of its 5G+ network (5G SA).
The World’s First Mobile Network to Deploy 5G+
The rapid expansion of Orange’s 5G+ service to provincial capitals like Alicante, Castellon, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Palma de Mallorca, Tenerife, Valladolid, and Zaragoza follows the successful launch of these services in major cities like Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao, Seville, and Valencia.
Orange also claims to have expanded 5G+ coverage to previously unserved areas, including the Madrid neighborhoods of Alcorcon and Leganes, and the Catalan cities of Badalona, Hospitalet, Sabadell, Sant Adria de Besos, and Santa Coloma de Gramanet.
Expansion of 5G+ Networks in a Hurry
Orange plans to cover more of Spain in the following weeks. This includes the cities of A Coruna, Badajoz, Barakaldo, Cadiz, Huelva, Jaen, Logrono, Malaga, Pamplona, Vigo, and Vitoria.
The 5G+ networks that Orange is deploying in these new cities will reach more than 80% of the population. By June of this year, it is expected that approximately 30 percent of Spaniards will have access to 5G+’s cutting-edge features thanks to this rollout.
According to Orange’s blog post, customers will only reap the benefits if they are in a serviceable area and are using a compatible smartphone. In order to provide more of its customers with access to 5G SA’s benefits, Orange wants to expand the coverage area of its network in the second half of 2023.
The 5G+ Network of Orange
Users and businesses alike can benefit from the 5G SA technology’s many new additions. A few examples are the ability to support up to 1 million connections per square kilometer, which is ten times more than existing technologies allow, and the ability to connect a larger number of devices with longer battery life for devices due to reduced signaling requirements and improved energy efficiency.
Orange’s 5G+ network is also more secure since it uses cutting-edge safety features including IMSI encryption (SUCI).
The Commercial Value of Orange’s 5G+ Network
5G+ provides the adaptability, scalability, reliability, and security that businesses need to run real-time applications. By slicing the network, Orange is able to provide virtual networks with customizable quality, availability, privacy, and on-demand security for mission-critical service provision and unique customer requirements.
Orange’s 5G+ Data Rates
Customers of Orange will not have to pay more for the upgraded 5G+ service. For users to get the benefits, their gadgets must be compatible. There is already a selection of cellphones available from the firm that have this technology, and more will be introduced shortly.
