No one, including me, thought that a cartoon version of the Castlevania series that you could watch on Netflix would be the best video game adaptation of all time. Nevertheless, here we all are. Castlevania: Nocturne, like The Witcher: Blood Origin before it, felt like it had to happen.
The first season of Nocturne is based on two Castlevania games: Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night, which is the most popular game in the series. With the famous Richter Belmont as the main character and the trust built up by Netflix’s four previous seasons of Castlevania, Nocturne is almost certain to be a hit with franchise and animation fans.
Castlevania: Nocturne is a must-see for fans of the first series. It has three-dimensional characters, complicated themes like class differences and religious corruption, fast-paced fights, and macabre horrors.
But what might Nocturne do in the future? Has it continued or ended? Here is what we know right now.
At the time of writing, Castlevania: Nocturne had not been picked up for a second season, but this is likely to change soon.
The first four seasons of Castlevania on Netflix were loved by both critics and fans, and they were all made by Powerhouse Animation, which is also the main animation company behind Nocturne.
There’s no reason to think that Nocturne will go in a different direction.
Like the last series, this one is mostly based on two games, but it also uses characters and storylines from other games in the series, so there is still a lot of material to work with. With this fan group already in place, Nocturne will have no trouble finding an audience or coming up with new ways to move the story forward.
Speaking of which, Castlevania: Nocturne Season 1 ends with a story that is nowhere near over on purpose. Instead, it seems like a preview for future seasons, which is probably what it is.
